Advanced Apprenticeship in Pharmacy Service Skills
An apprenticeship is an integrated program consists of following components:
• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Services Skills (QCF)- Competence Qualification
• Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences – Knowledge Qualification
• Functional Skills (Only for those apprentices who did not achieve GCSE grades A-C in Maths & English)
• Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
• Personal Learning and Thinking Skills ( PLTS)
An Apprentice will achieve 14 mandatory and 3 optional Units (17 units in total) to gain the full qualification. An apprentice will be trained for each unit at the workplace. An apprentice will provide range of evidence and demonstrate the consistency in each unit. The college will assign an assessor to each apprentice who will assess the apprentice’s competencies for each unit against the qualification occupational standards.
An Apprentice will achieve 19 Units to gain the full qualification Tutors will teach each unit in full breadth by using all relevant resources and using different delivery methods. Once the apprentice is confident then controlled assessment for each unit will take place as per timetable.

All components of the Apprenticeship are designed to be completed within 18 months however employment contract will be for 2 years.
An apprentice will attend the college one day a week for one year.
Once qualified, you can work in a variety of sectors such as community / hospital pharmacy or in the pharmaceutical industry.
There is currently a high demand for Pharmacy Technicians. In the hospitals Pharmacy technicians start from band 4 and move upto band 8
